On the common theme of journeys, each filmmaker presents their cinematic impression of contemporary times in Kerala.The independent narratives integrate when, during these journeys, their characters pass through KERALA CAFE - a quaint railway cafeteria; thereby creating a joint mosaic of issues and impressions; in a symbiotic space and time .Kerala CAFÉ will have one signature song which brings together the behind-the-scenes making of the different films using the footage of the crew. The song is an ode to Thunchath Ezhuthachan's famous verse" Kathaya mama, Kathaya mama, Kathakalathisadaram...:"a story, it is a story, stories that salutes the time..."Lyrics by Rafeeq Ahmed and Music by Bijibal. |

Ten film makers in one platform for the first time in Malayalam cinema.
The project involves ten different cinematographers from the industry.
The project features ten different stories from different settings in Kerala providing ample scope for a diverse bouquet of looks in films.
The eleventh element will be a common wrap to the project which will be collectively shot by the ten directors and designed by Ranjith.
The project includes confirmed stars from the industry; viz. Mammooty, Suresh Gopi, Jayaram, Jagathy Sreekumar, Siddique, Nedumudi Venu, Zarina Wahab. Casting is in progress.

Capitol Theatre has produced the critically acclaimed Kayyoppu & Thirakatha which were noted for their aesthetics and popular appeal. The "Creative producer" comes to the fore as Ranjith designs KERALA CAFE for the Malayalam film fraternity. Bringing together a diverse combination of filmmakers from the commercially successful to the critically acclaimed, Capitol Theatre has aroused great interest among the technicians and talent in the industry. Actors/ actresses and technicians have welcomed the project and joined the Kerala Cafe team.The project concept has also generated a strong media buzz and curiosity among audiences. Some international film festivals have already expressed interest to see the film. Ranjith has designed the project with a structure that ensures each filmmaker his/her creative autonomyand yet brings the synergy of their combined strengths to the project. |
