Puttu is a healthy and nutritious breakfast item form the southern state of Kerala and when it is modified a little with non veg items, it tastes wonderful.
Puttu podi 1 1/2 cup
Chopped meat 200gm
Coriander powder 2 teaspoon
Chilly powder 1 teaspoon
Pepper powder 1 teaspoon
Perinjeeragam (Aniseed) 1 teaspoon
Crushed garlic 1 teaspoon
Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon
Chopped small onion 1/4 cup
Garam masala powder 1/2 teaspoon
Coconut oil 3 tablespoon
Clean the chopped meat and in little water cook the meat by adding ingredients 1 to 6. Drain the extra water from the cooked meat and keep aside the masala water. Mix the puttu powder with the masala water little by little. It should be in a powdered form wet enough for steaming now. .If too much lumps are found just run it in your blender.
In a seperate pan, add coconut oil and saute small onions. When the onions turn brown, add the cooked meat along with garam masala and keep it ready.
In a puttu mould, add a fistful full of rice flour then add the errachi masala,again the rice flour and top with meat masala.Steam it to get poricha erachi puttu..
